Montpellier youngster http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Karim-Aït-Fana-c20341 still days away from return – Ligue 1 news
Montpellier Herault prodigy, Karim Aït-Fana is still days away from making a return to competitive football after an already lengthy absence.
The young midfielder has been out of action since the final ten weeks of the 2010/2011 Ligue 1 campaign after an injury to the fascia in his right thigh. It was expected that the 22-year-old would make a comeback this week but the physicians at Montpellier
reckon that the youngster will have to wait for another two weeks to fully recover from the major injury.
The club doctors are not willing to rush the winger back to first-team football and have asked coach Rene Girard to be patient with the youngster’s rehabilitation. Rene Girard will now have to wait a bit longer to see one of his most talented players to
return to action for La Paillade.
Montpellier are currently occupying the top spot in Ligue 1 standings after winning three out of their last four games of the new campaign. On September 11, 2011, Montpellier will host OGC Nice in a Ligue 1 encounter.
Rene Girard will be looking to defend Montpellier’s top spot in the league against a side that is currently in 17th place with just two points. Following the game against Nice, Montpellier will travel to Brest to face Stade Brestois and once again,
Aït-Fana will not be in the squad.
Aït-Fana made his debut for the Paillade at the age of just 17 in 2006. Since then, the youngster has made over 126 appearances for Montpellier and has scored 14 goals. The youngster was instrumental for the Montpellier team that was promoted to the Ligue
1 in the 2009 campaign.
Following a great 2009/2010 season, Aït-Fana was given a contract extension that would keep him at the Stade de la Mosson until 2012.
Girard would be hopeful that the talented winger does not take longer than two weeks to return to first-team action as the French tactician is already faced with a growing list of injuries. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 international
Fode Koita is out with an ankle injury. Gregory Lacombe is also out with a knee injury and all three along with Aït-Fana will miss the game against Nice at home.
