Montreal Canadiens' Carey Price healthy, optimistic not worried about contract -NHL Update
Montreal Canadiens know that they have a great goalie on hand and most likely do not want him to be testing the free market coming up later in July.
Revealing some great news, Carey Price announced that all of his injuries acquired during the final days of the 2011-2012 National Hockey League (NHL) regular season are now behind him and he is fully optimistic towards having a good year ahead, but not
worried about getting a deal out of Montreal.
"I feel really good," Price said. "I was good when I left Montreal. I wanted to make sure I was all squared away before I left the [Montreal] treatment centres that are readily available to me. I didn't want to come out here and go to [medical] people I
don't know, so I stayed until I was symptom-free and cleared by the doc. I was working out pretty hard by the time I left."
Set to become a restricted free agent come July 1, 2012, it will signal an end to his two-year, $5.5 million deal with the Canadiens. It is quite obvious that Price will be focusing on signing a similar or bigger deal, but certainly longer in length that
is for sure.
"I'm pretty confident we'll get something done," the three-time all-star said. "I'm really not the type of guy who's going to push everything to get [a contract] done faster. We're trying to build a team here and we want to build it the right way. Rushing
decisions isn't the right way to do it."
For now, Price does not have workout routines planned in his mind but is focused on more home related work out on his property.
Montreal Canadiens have seen some major changes throughout the offseason thus far, including a new general manager and changes in the coaching staff as well.
Carey Price is just one of those functionaries of the team that cannot be changed in any given circumstance because he provides immense defensive depth and losing him would be a knock out for Montreal.
Updates on a deal between Montreal and Carey Price can be expected in the upcoming days.
