Montreal Canadiens Blake Geoffrion Releases from Hospital, Making Swift Recovery -NHL Update
There are a lot of worries for Montreal Canadiens prospect, Blake Geoffrion, who faced a fractured skull recently, undergoing surgery while fans, teammates and family members hope for the best.
Fortunately, the youngster was released from the hospital recently and is reported to be making a swift recovery and will eventually be back to playing hockey as doctors expect him to fully recover from the near fatal incident.
Being close to losing his life is one thing while nearly being stopped from playing altogether was another thing that would have been tragic for the youngster looking to establish himself a name in the National Hockey League (NHL).
The incident occurred during a matchup between the Hamilton Bulldogs and Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League (AHL), as he was legally checked by defenseman, Jean-Philippe Côté. Geoffrion is back to walking, but still needs to take it easy in every
regard in order to ensure a fully recovery, but for now, it is easy to say that this season has come to an abrupt end for the youngster.
“It’s just total rest and then it’s just one day at a time,” Geoffrion said, according to Montrealgazette.com.
“So all you’ve got to do is ... guide your ship as best as you can and just ask God for direction and all this will be answered down the line, depending on whatever happens with him.”
Blake Geoffrion is a 24-year-old native of Plantation, Florida, United States, and was drafted by the Nashville Predators during round-two of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. He played his first two seasons with the Predators, before being traded to the Montreal Canadiens
during the 2011-2012 NHL regular season.
In a total of 55 games major league games played throughout his career, Geoffrion boasts 13 points, of which eight are goals and the remaining five are assists.
After a two-year, entry-level deal came to an end, Geoffrion was signed on to a one-year extension by the Montreal Canadiens worth a total of $803,205 for the major league and an annual salary of $62,500 in the minors.
Updates will be made available whenever they are released officially.
