Montreal Canadiens new coach Michel Therrien ecstatic to start Hockey Season -NHL Update
While owners of National Hockey League (NHL) franchises and players continue to take control of the rope in a tug-of-war on a new collective bargaining agreement between the two stakeholders, many people are just finding it too hard to stay put and are ecstatic
about starting a new hockey year, full of hope and aspirations.
One of those people are without a doubt newly re-appointed Montreal Canadiens head coach, Michel Therrien, who feels like he just might blow with anticipation and excitement if a hockey season does not kick off soon enough.
He is one of the most luckiest coaches in history as well since usually when a team does not have a good experience with a member of the coaching staff, it is extremely rare that they will give that person a second chance and Therrien is fortunate to be
on that list.
Therrien has been active ever since being appointed earlier on in the offseason and has been in contact with players from the Montreal Canadiens club during that timeframe in order to get a feel of how the club much the club has changed ever since he performed
with them last.
One thing Therrien is happy for is having Carey Price back, according to the Edmonton Sun, as he is one of the best goalies in the league and Montreal certainly needed him at all costs.
"I am glad that Carey Price is back in Montreal," Therrien said of the team's star goalie. "I had the opportunity to talk to him a few times (on the phone) in the summer, but it is not the same as having the chance to finally sit down with him, it is not
the same kind of conversation.
Along with talking about players who have chosen to go on a Euro trip while the lockout lasts, the new head coach did not seem to have a problem with it, other than fearing whether they will stay healthy enough to continue playing in the NHL when required.
"It is up to them, but I told (Brian) Gionta to play his role as captain and to ensure that players remain in excellent physical condition," Therrien added. "They must not lose the momentum they gained during the summer so we can start on the right foot."
