Montreal Canadiens owner Geoff Molson Hopeful of Season getting Started -NHL Lockout Update
The Montreal Canadiens, along with 29 other National Hockey League (NHL) franchises have been officially locked out from any playing or the usage of any team facility for over two months now after the previous collective bargaining agreement came to an end
earlier in September.
Franchise owner, Geoff Molson, however is one of those few top level team stakeholders that actually came out during the whole process and described how they felt during the work stoppage, which has caused many losses to both stakeholders.
According to the Montreal Gazette, Molson described how he was optimistic of getting back to playing during the regular season along with not being that active in the negotiation process and having a hand in the lockout as most people would imagine to be.
“I’m a glass-half-full guy and I try to be that way all the time,” Molson said. “I’m not in the room negotiating and I won’t comment on that anyway. But I believe that we’ll get back to playing and I’m looking forward to that day.”
Even Canadiens’ players’ believe that Molson is one of those very few team owners who are interested to getting back on the ice instead of staying in the discussion process forever.
“In my heart, I hope we are. There’s no question, it’s difficult for everybody. More than half the people who work at the Bell Centre are on a four-day week and to some people, every day matters. This impacts everyone. It’s part of our life and culture,
especially in Montreal and other big markets. Everybody wants us to be on the ice.”
Montreal Canadiens have had a busy offseason and continue to build their team at every level after facing embarrassment and the wrath of the fans these past couple of seasons for being ranked as one of the worst in the professional hockey league. Hiring
a new coach and additions to the front office, the Canadiens are ready to burst out and play some hockey to win their reputation back as one of the best, but the work stoppage is just ruining that whole mindset and optimism.
