Montreal Canadiens plays host to Buffalo Sabres in the sixth and final meeting between them
Montreal Canadiens play host to Buffalo Sabres in another one of Tuesday’s games. This will be the sixth and final meeting between the two teams during the course of the season.
Out of the five games that have already taken place between the two teams during the course of the season, the Canadiens lead 3-2.
The first three games were won by the Canadiens but the Sabres have been in good form and won the last two meetings between the two teams.
The last game between the two teams went into shootout after which the Sabres emerged as 3-2 winners of the game.
Canadiens have come up with some decent performances in their last 11 games which have seen them winning eight games in regulation time. They are sixth in the Eastern Conference but still not assured of a spot in the play-offs.
Sabres, on the other hand, occupy the final play-off spot and they are looking to improve their record of one play-off appearance in the last three seasons.
They are three points ahead of the ninth placed Carolina Hurricanes. The last 10 games of the season for Sabres will see them play five games on home ice while five games will see them play away.
They have a good chance of making their way into the play-off but keeping in mind the close things in the Eastern Conference, anything can happen till the very last game of the regular season.
Sabres had a chance to strength their spot in the play-offs as they were up against Nashville Predators as they led 3-1.
However, Predators were able to come back and levlled the scores on 3-3. As the game went into overtime, Predators scored in to win the game 4-3 in the end.
Sabres have played 72 games during the course of the season out of which they have won 35 games in regulation time and nine games in overtime to score a total of 79 points.
On the other hand, Canadiens have played 73 games during the season out which they have won 40 games in regulation time and seven games in overtime to score a total of 87 points.
Canadiens were up against New York Rangers, a game which they lost 3-1 in the end. However, their next game was against Minnesota Wild which saw them winning the game with a dominating score line of 8-1.
Canadiens showed probably their best offensive display during the course of the season and not only this but their goal keeper Carey Price also came up with decent performance during the course of the game which saw him making some important saves.
