Montreal Canadiens ready to take on everything in their way next season -NHL News Update
Montreal Canadiens made it into the playoffs last season but it was not certainly what they had hoped for, whether taking into regards their regular season or their postseason performance. Player injuries and bad performances riddled their team last season,
but general manager, Pierre Gauthier, is more than optimistic as training camp is set to begin later this week.
GM Gauthier expressed his confidence while attending his teams’ annual fundraising golf tournament, which certainly has given fans much to look forward to.
"We left last season on an optimistic note", Gauthier said Wednesday."We were disappointed to lose in overtime of a seventh game, but with the injuries last season and the roles of the young players, a lot of the veterans were saying we have a good team".
Having to play against bitter rivals, Boston Bruins, during round-one of the 2011 National Hockey League (NHL) Playoffs, Montreal faced defeat in a close seven-game series against them, but it did not seem bad knowing later on that they nearly fought off
the Stanley Cup winners.
Over the offseason, GM Gauthier along with the entire management remained busy while others were taking time to rest, in order to turn the team around and be a Stanley Cup contending franchise when they get a chance next season.
With the return of Andrei Markov, Josh Gorges, Max Pacioretty, P.K. Subban, Lars Eller and David Desharnai, Montreal’s roster is more than complete and capable of becoming a top of the line team.
"It's a real positive thing to see that management wants to move forward with this group and try to win with this group and is adding to the team", Montreal forward Michael Cammalleri said. "I like our team. It's an exciting group".
Regarding the next season as a fresh and new start in Canadiens history, Montreal believes that with a capable line-up of a number of young and experienced players, having a big regular season along with putting up a tough fight in the playoffs, the team
is moving ahead in the right direction.
