Montreal Canadiens thrash the Minnesota Wild 8-1 – NHL Recap
The Montreal Canadiens comprehensively beat the Minnesota Wild 8-1 at the Xcel Energy Centre on Sunday. The Canadiens were looking for a strong finish to get into the National Hockey League play-off cut, as the Wild also needed a win to keep their play-off
hopes alive.
The game started off with the Canadiens on top right from the start and they scored in the very first minute to get into the lead. A few minutes later they scored once again to double their lead. The second period kicked off with the Canadiens continuing
with their dominating effort which saw them scoring four goals to end the period on 6-0. The final period saw the Canadiens bagging two more goals, as the Wild scored once. The game ended with the Canadiens winning 8-1 with Pernell Subban of the Canadiens
named the Star of the Game, as he scored three goals and made an important assist.
The first period saw the Canadiens on top right from the start and they managed to score in the very first minute through Ryan White with a well placed flick-shot to get into the lead. The Canadiens continued to pile pressure on the opposing team and it
was not until the 7th minute that they scored once again.
The goal was scored by Andrei Kostitsyn from a decent strike that doubled the lead for the Canadiens. The period ended with the Canadiens leading 2-0.
The second period kicked off with the Canadiens continuing on the dominating road, as they scored once again in the very first minute through Subban from a well placed flick-shot.
The Wild were able to come up with a few shots on goal, but the Canadiens were on top and scored once again in the 6th minute through James Wisniewski from a quick fired shot. The Canadiens showed their productivity with another goal in the 8th
minute, which was scored by Travis Moen from a well placed back-hand shot.
The dominating performance in the second period was wrapped up by another goal in the 17th minute, which was scored by Subban during the power-play from a powerful strike. The period ended with the Canadiens leading 6-0, as they made 13 shots
on goal and the Wild managed just 8 attempts.
The final 20 minutes of play saw the Canadiens making a decent start to the period once again and they scored in the second minute through Subban once again. The Wild were able to score a goal in the 13th minute through Miko Koivu from a brilliant
back-hand shot.
However, the Canadiens sealed the game with another goal in the 14th minute, which was scored by Tom Pyatt from a powerful strike. The game finished with the Canadiens winning 8-1 after displaying some excellent dominating ice hockey.
