Montreal Canadiens wins 3-0 against Pittsburgh Penguins with a brilliant shutout performance
The first game of Saturday was played at the Consol Energy Center as the Pittsburgh Penguins played host to the Montreal Canadiens. The game was important for the Canadiens as they wanted to score crucial points in order to cement their position in the play-off
cut. The Penguins on the other hand were looking to win the game so as to keep pace with the teams above them.
The Canadiens made a decent start to the game as they scored in the very first minute to get into the lead. Though there weren’t as many shots during the period but the shots that were made were superb. The second period saw both teams making numerous shots
on goal but it was the Canadiens who scored two goals in the second period. The shutout performance completed as the Canadiens won the game 3-0. There were no goals in the final period and Carey Price, goal keeper of the Canadiens was the star of the game
as he made 26 saves during the game.
The Canadiens made a decent start to the game which saw them scoring in the very first minute through Tomas Plekanec from a brilliant backhand shot. The Rangers continued to fire shots on goal with the Penguins also coming up with shots every now and then.
However, there weren’t any goals in the period after this with both teams coming up with some potentially goal scoring opportunities. The period ended with the Canadiens leading 1-0. During the course of the period, the Canadiens made 11 shots on goal while
the Rangers made 9 shots on goal.
The second period saw the Canadiens making a strong started once again and they were able to capitalize from this as they scored in the first minute once again to double their lead. The goal was scored by Travis Moen from a powerful strike.
The Canadiens didn’t give the opposing team any space early on and on the same they created chances for themselves. The Canadiens scored once again in the seventh minute through Michael Cammalleri from a decent flick shot to further extend their lead.
The period saw the Penguins getting stronger with the passage of time and creating chances for themselves. However, there were no further goals during the period as the teams went into the break with the Canadiens leading 3-0. During the course of the period,
the Canadiens made 9 shots on goal while the Rangers made six shots on goal.
The final period saw the Penguins coming up with the 10 goal attempts while the Canadiens made 2 shots on goal. There were no goals during the period as the period and the game ended with the Canadiens winning the game 3-0.
