Montreal Habs to retire Patrick Roy's #33 this year. How do you feel about the fact that the team he did not retire with wants to hang his jersey?

here's the article.

Will this open the flood gates for other jerseys like Hasik in Buffalo?

  1. I agree with the other posters.  The only question mark to me is why wasn't it retired earlier.

  2. Jacoby- Don't forget Ron Francis- Retired by Hurricanes, retired with Toronto.

Roy deserves this. He brought the Habs two cups- more or less on his own. No question he should have his number retired.

  3. Hasek's would be retired regardlss of what happens w/Roys. Not retiring w/a team doesn't mean you don't get your jersey retired

    For example:

Bobby Hull (Jersey by Chicago ) retired w/Winnepeg

Ray Borque (Jersey by Boston) retired w/Colorado

Bryan Trottier (Jersye by Isles) retired w/Pens

Bobby Orr (by Boston) retired w/Chicago

Mark Messier (by Edmonton) retired w/Rangers

Brian Leetch (by Rangers) retired w/Boston

Rene Robert (by Buffalo) retired w/Toronto

  4. Good move by the Habs to mend some fences and honour Roy.  His one cup win when he won 10 OT games is the stuff of hockey legend.

Like him or not.  Winning four cups in the modern era makes him a money goalie.

Hasek may see his number retired in Detroit.  I dunno about Buffalo.  Most players that leave the Sabres seem to do so under less than friendly terms.
