Montreal Impact in the process of revitalizing the club’s coaching staff for 2012 - MLS News
Former North American Soccer League outfit http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Montreal-Impact-c39946 lured US veteran Mike Sorber as Assistant Manager in the process of revamping the outfit to start their first Major League Soccer campaign in March 2012.
The club are currently strengthening the roster and the management to create an impact in the maiden season.
Sorber will be a direct assistant to Impact head coach, Jesse Marsch. The former MLS stalwart played alongside Marsch in Chicago Fire in 2000. Both Sorber and Marsch worked as assistants under Bob Bradley in the US national team during the 2010 FIFA World
Cup in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/South-Africa-c757.
“We were teammates in 2000 with the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chicago-Fire-c38795, assistants with the national team and now we’re together again back here,” Sorber said. “We have a good understanding of how we work together. He sees the game one way, I see it a bit differently, but we
know how to communicate with each other to get everybody on the same page and moving in the same direction”.
Marsch has been at the helm of the Impact since August this year and the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/DC-United-c38901 midfielder has been looking for reinforcements to roster and coaching staff to be at par with fellow MLS sides.
Impact’s signing of Sorber puts assistant coach Mauro Biello and physical performance manager Gil Orriols Jansana’s career in doubts. However, the head tactician has assured that there is no threat to their positions in the staff.
Biello started his career with the club since its inception in 1993. The player still holds the record for most appearances for the Impact: 389 outings and 77 goals. Jansana has been with the Impact since 2009 after his stint with FC Barcelona’s medical
staff.
The manager mentioned the possibility of including a new face to coaching staff, someone who possesses the MLS skill set. The likely candidate is an MLS veteran, though, the manager did not give a hint.
“We’re still with another guy that we’re thinking of adding and it might be somebody who has some of that,” grinned Marsch. “But I’m not going to give you any hints.”
