Montreal Jazz Fest?

Question

Does anyone live in Montreal that knows about the Jazz fest? Is it good? How big is it? I was thinking of going to Montreal to see it this year because one of my favorite bands, Bran Van 3000 is going to be playing. I live in Toronto so Montreal isn't too far away from me. It's a week long I heard (June 26-July 6), but when is the best day to go? I'm thinking of going on July 1st (Canada Day).

I won't be here this year for the Jazz Fest :( so I haven't checked the schedule, but if you have to chose a day, let it be the day your band plays, otherwise you'll miss it! :P. There are some celebrations on Canada day, I think a parade and some events at the Old Port. The whole week is usually full of events and many of them are free and outdoors. I think it is pretty cool.

The best day to go always used to be the Thursday night, but I don't know if it still is.

We don't really celebrate or commemorate Canada Day over here, I'm afraid.

If you like jazz, then any day is just as good......but it would make sense to go when your band is playing........
