Montreal Nightlife Tips?

A buddy of mine and I are going to be in Montreal from June 12 to the 14th. We have heard a lot about the nightlife there and were wanting some info from people that know the area.

We know the street names but we don't know any good bars or nightclubs. I'm interested in going to some nightclubs with good music, maybe some bars, maybe some strip clubs.

Also what types of articles of clothing should we wear, and when someone says a place is more "dressy" just how dessy it is. Any tips on how to get into clubs would also be great.

I'm sorry this question is long. I probably sound like a dumb American, but I know I am. I'd rather sound like a dumb American on the internet than look like one when I'm walking the streets of Montreal next week.

Club Scene in Montreal is dressy.  A lot of better clubs you will not get in with a pair of Jeans or sneaker.

There are line ups all over the place.  You are waved in at the discretion of the bouncer.  A pretty girl with you is the best way of getting in.  Indication of a tip to the door person does indeed work.

Cresent and lower part of Le main, more dressy.

Upper part of Le main is more bohemian.

St. Dennis is more Parisian.
