Moody Tunes sensational in the line-up of the Tim Easterby Racing Partnerships Ladies’ Handicap
Pontefract will host the Class 5 Tim Easterby Racing Partnerships Ladies’ Handicap (Lady Amateur Riders) (Division II) over a mile, two furlongs and six yards on Monday, 2nd July. Twelve three-year and above runners have turned up for the £2,184
prize money.
Among the contestants, one of the strongest entry is, Moody Tunes, Merdon Melody’s nine-year-old bay gelding out of mare, Lady-Love. The Tom Dascombe trained improved remarkably through the three outings of the new season.
His seasonal debut was in the Panthera Ladies Day Handicap (Lady Amateur Riders) on 11th May, 2012 at Lingfield over seven furlongs. The race was won by Imprimis Tagula and headed the track by a length.
Moody Tunes settled as the runner while riding with Miss. A. L. Murphy.
His ranking in the second try of the season resulted in a deteriorated fifth position in the Broadbase Amateur Riders’ Handicap on 26th May, 2012 at Newbury over a mile and two furlongs. The favourite of the race, Maven, won by the margin of two
and a half lengths. Settling the closest was, Laverre.
Gaining and learning all that was possible from the first two tests of the season, Moody Tunes captured the Bibendum Amateur Riders’ Stakes (Handicap) on 8th June, 2012 at Goodwood over a mile and a furlong.
The win did not come easy as the reeling in rival, Potentiale, was adrift by only half a length. The favourite of the race, Cobbs Quay, ended eighth in the race contested by twelve runners.
Today is the first time that the nine-year-old will race at Pontefract and that too over a distance that is longer than the three races that he took part in during the new season.
The 9 to 2 entry will need to look out for Rub Of the Relic, who has been showing consistency specially through the last two attempts, a third position and then a win.
The seven-year-old won the Horizons Restaurants Amateur Riders’ Selling Stakes on 25th June at Wolverhampton over a mile and four furlongs. He won by a mere head’s margin with Maid Of Meft right at the heels.
How far will his 11 to 2 chances take him, will reveal soon.
