Moonlight Cloud completes yet another strong season
Moonlight Cloud has enjoyed a very good season this year and her team would definitely be pleased with her achievements until now. She has won a couple of Group 1 events in 2012 and will be expected to continue delivering such solid results in the years
to come.
Overall, the talented filly has participated in 14 events, winning eight of them whereas finished as a runner up twice. There were only four times, when she failed to secure a place in the top-three.
Although, the four-year-old challenger started off her career in 2010, yet she has not lost any energy till date. She is as fresh as she was a couple of years ago and her rivals have never found it easy to match her speed.
The F. Head’s trainee appeared in a Group 3 event at the start of this year and there were high expectations from her. She was rated as the favourite to succeed and did not let her team down in the end, winning by a comfortable margin of two lengths.
However, the biggest challenge for the skilful filly was to face Black Caviar in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Ascot. The latter was unbeaten and no one even came close to beat her during all her previous victories.
However, Moonlight Cloud was not going to allow an easy victory to the Australian challenger and she fought until the very end of the race. Despite such a strong effort, she could only manage a runner up position in the end.
Her team would have been pleased with the overall performance, as the margin of defeat to Black Caviar was just a head distance. This was an impressive run, especially against a runner who was fighting for her 22nd consecutive victory.
Moonlight Cloud went onto win her next race easily, as she was full of confidence and no one managed to come anywhere closer to her. She failed to make a strong impression next time around though and had to settle for fourth place in the end.
However, this did not stop George Strawbridge’s owned filly from winning another Group 1 event and she outperformed Farhh, who was the outright favourite for the event.
Invincible Spirit’s daughter certainly has a lot of talent and she will look to continue winning more races for her team in the future.
