Moonlite Sky lights up the track in A3 race at Hove
In many greyhound races, a strong start from the traps often leads one dog to outpace the others and earn the victory. That’s what happened as Moonlite Sky lit up the competition in the
first of two 515m A3 races held at the Coral Brighton and Hove Greyhound Stadium.
Starting from trap four, Moonlite Sky (5-2) moved quickly away from the pack, holding a great pace and crossing the finish line in 30.00. Finishing a single length behind her was Rising
Cloda, one of a pair of 2-1 joint favourites in this race. She moved quickly and was always handy, earning second place in 30.08.
Adios Amigo, the other 2-1 joint favourite, said goodbye to a potential first-place finish when he missed a break and crowded first. He lost 2¼ lengths as a result, finishing third in
30.26. Fourth-place finisher Greenacre Steve (6-1) moved slowly away, and finished a head’s length out of the top three in 30.27.
Guardian Jack (5-1) crowded the first bend and the quarter mark, losing 2¼ lengths in the process. He went on to finish in fifth place by posting a time of 30.45. Oneco Treasure, the 14-1
long shot, claimed sixth place after moving slowly away. His time of 30.59 placed 1¾ lengths behind fifth place.
In the second A3 race, Fork Handles (3-1) earned a hard-fought victory after encountering a number of problems. Starting from trap six, he moved slowly away and crowded the first bend.
He would go on to crowd the three-quarter mark, but he took the lead soon afterward. He checked in with a time of 30.37. Glencarn Man (4-1) crowded the run up and the second bend, finishing 1¼ lengths behind the winner in 30.47 to take second place.
Third place went to Corellis Smasher (7-2), who moved quickly away, led to the three-quarter mark, and baulked wide. Despite those problems, he finished ¾ lengths out of second place in
30.53. If Ever, the 5-2 favourite, crowded the run up and fourth, finishing a neck behind Corellis Smasher in 30.55.
Emma Said So (5-1) held an early pace at the start of the race, but failed to hold on to it, as she baulked wide at the three-quarter mark. She locked up fifth place in 30.56, which was
a shoulder out of the fourth position. Tip Top Audrey (5-1) lost 2 lengths after crowding the run up and the first bend. She would also crowd and check third wide, resulting in a 30.72 finishing time.
The greyhound races at Coral Brighton and Hove Greyhound Stadium will resume on Saturday 27 November with a 12-race card. The first race gets under way at 19:30.
