Moose Hunting and Rifles.?

Hi, Late October i am doing a moose hunt with my dad and his friend. I am using a 300 wsm. I will choose a 180 grain but i dont know what kinda of bullet. I was thinking of getting ballistic silver tips.

Anyways i was wondering if you wanted to share any moose hunting storys with me.

I have one, When my dad started out hunting at 19. There was 4 people, My dad, his brother, his friend and his friends dad. The only one with experience was the dad, he hunted moose for years and told them that they wont get one and might not even see one and he was acting all tough and pro. He dropped my dad and his brother off at one end of a small lake. when the father came back to pick them up there was 2 moose hanging in the tree, 43 inch bull and a cow. My dad and the brother laughed and rubbed it in the fathers face. By the way my dad got the bull with a 270. win 150 grain.

Never Moose hunted before but hope I will one day.  I've heard the .30-06 Springfield is plenty for Moose but I don't see any reason not to use the newer .300 WSM. Ballistic Winchester Silvertips™ in 180 grain weight sound about perfect for Moose.  I'm using Winchester Silvertips™ in 120 grain for Whitetail deer this season in my .25-06 Remington.

Hey I'm subpermittee up here in Maine this October, luck to you.  Where we are the rut is wrapping up in mid October.  You may still do well calling though.  300wsm is plenty huge for moose, I killed one two years ago with a 7 x 57, the little one, with one shot.  Thats the key, shot placement.  Heart shots are lethal, as well as spine and brain.  Don't rush it and you'll do fine.  I don't want to make this too long, but killing em is the easy part!  They allow them to be quartered up here and it cools the meat off quicker.  The head, hide and hocks arent good for anything anyway.... Don't forget to cut off the antlers though.  good luck
