Question:

Moped battery replacement help?

My battery just died on my moped, I tried to charge it but it won't hold a charge. The battery is a Yuasa YTX4L-BS. If I bought a replacement of that same brand it would cost me $50.

However, on eBay there's a YTX4L-BS going for $28. But it's of a no name company. Do you think it'd work with it? Or am I better off blowing away another $25 for the brand name?

Thanks, and here's the link to the eBay one;

  1. Did I miss where they gave you a warranty on the battery, for like 12 months or 24 months, or 36 months, or even 48 months?

    Because I don't remember seeing one.

  2. try this go to walmart and look for a lawn mower battery of the same size Yuasa YTX4L-BS is just a brand of.... if its the same size and the connection are the same no matter what kind you get ... id check walmarts or a parts store first... and about 25 bucks is the going price

  3. Do not for get shipping with one from ebay

  4. Don't pay for a battery twice by buying a cheap battery only to have it fail a few days later and have no warranty.

    Get an O.E.M. battery. Sure you pay a little more for O.E.M. parts, but It's cheaper then getting 2 batteries.

    Oh yeah..., when you change the battery, fire up the bike and check your voltage at the battery, while it is running. A good charging system should have 13.5-14.5 volts DC at the battery on a 12 volt system. If you don't have the proper voltage, have the charging system looked at.

    Good Luck
