Moped or Motorcycle?

Question

Should I sell my 50cc moped and get a 250cc motorcycle?

Evaluating:

Fun factor - I like riding, but have only been on the 250cc for a few hours, and never drove a motorcycle before that

MPG - moped=100, motorcycle=70

Roads I could go on - moped wont let me travel between school and home, motorcycle will

Cost - due to connections, motorcycle is only $1200, and the moped would be super easy to trade in

I already have my motorcycle learners permit, and am signed up for the safety course, insurance prices are basically the exact same, but the upgrade to the bike would put me behind in purchasing a car.

It snows where I live, so for either, riding months are limited.

I would go with the motorcycle cause they are better on gas.   Especially seeing how gas prices are bloody high.  And when it's winter time if it's possible either take a bus or have a friend/family member drive you to and from work.  Hopefully you can save up extra money for your car later.

If you can get a motorcycle cheap - get the motorcycle.

The MPG isn't that far difference anyway.

Oops.  I didn't read the part about the car.  In that case I would hold on to the moped.  When it snows, motorcycle is useless.

Buy the motorcycle!

It will be much more useful to you and you'll have a lot more fun riding it.

My bias leads me to say get the motorcycle.

You list a few good reasons for doing so.

The only downside you mention is that it would put you behind on another purchase.

get the bike....

you can ride them in the snow.....

but it is freezing...................................

temp where I live dosnt get cold enough for snow... but the roads do get ice now & then...not fun... but not impossible.
