Morales fight announced
On Sept. 11 Erik “El Terrible” Morales will impress fans in the ring again, when he faces Willie Limond in Mexico City.  The bout will be shown on Pay-per-view by Integrated Sports for the price of $29.95.  At this time the undercard has not been announced.
Morales returned to the ring in March, after a lengthy absence of almost three years.  He defeated Jose Alfaro in a 12 round unanimous decision.  His return was made at the welterweight division, which is where he looks to make his future stake.  He is a former five-time super bantamweight champion.
It appears that the WBC is setting up Morales for a future title shot, by putting their “International welterweight title” at stake in the bout against Willie Limond.
Limond is remembered mainly for a July 2007 match with then up-and-comer Amir Khan.  While he lost the match, he managed to put Khan on the canvas.  He has fought primarily at 130 and 135 himself, so is not primarily a welterweight.  Then again, neither is Morales.
Limond has been inactive since November, when he beat someone with only three wins in over fifty bouts in his hometown of Glasgow.
Many have speculated that Limond will pose a few problems for Morales, who is still on the cusp of a comeback and isn’t what he used to be in the ring.  Limond may not be one of the world’s best, but he’s a decent boxer, and is more honed that Morales’ last opponent, Jose Alfaro.  Limond likewise understands that with a win over the tarnished, optimistic Morales, he’d be able to cash in on another money-match back home.
It’s worth remembering that before returning this year, Morales had lost four in a row and five of his last six.  That generally spells hanging up the gloves for good, but fighters always have a hard time leaving the squared circle.  Morales is nevertheless a fighter who can brag about defeating Manny Pacquiao back in their first bout.
