Morant Bay tipped to win Nordoff Robbins Willie Robertson Memorial Maiden Fillies´ Stakes
Morant Bay is expected to dominate proceedings in the Nordoff Robbins Willie Robertson Memorial Maiden Fillies´ Stakes at Sandown in England on Friday, April 27, 2012. The winner of the class-4 event will be awarded a cash prize of £6,225.
Only five runners have been attracted towards the race, which is scheduled to start at 16:05 GMT, and their names are as follows: Morant Bay, Caitlin, Lascaux, Virginia Gallica and Bondi Mist.
The going will be heavy in the 1 mile, 2 furlong and 7 yard race, which might test the stamina of all participants to some extent.
Most of the runners taking part in the race are inexperienced, which would have given a tough time to the bookies. However, they have decided to give the best odds to Morant Bay, who appears to be in good shape right now. She might also win the confidence
of the punters today.
The three-year-old filly has taken part in just one race until now and she finished fourth in it. She was up against some quality runners and was not expected to finish in the top five. However, she surprised one and all with her speed and ended up in a
decent position.
Considering that performance, the Sir Henry Cecil’s trainee will definitely be the one to watch out for in the race. She has the tools to deliver a strong result, but will need to be at her absolute best in order to take the top position.
Morant Bay will be partnered by Tom Queally, who is a seasoned runner and has won quite a few races at this level. However, his strike rate is not good, which means that he will need to bring more consistency in her performances.
On the other hand, Caitlin will also be the one to watch out for in the race. She has taken part in just one race until now and finished third in it. The bettors will certainly be encouraged to risk some money in her favour, as she has the ability to challenge
her rivals.
The Andrew Balding’s trainee will be partnered by Jimmy Fortune, who has been in good form recently.
