Moratti has full backing for Gasperini and urges the fans to remain patient: Serie A news
Inter Milan President, Massimo Moratti, has backed manager, Gian Piero Gasperini, after the defeat to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Trabzonspor-c40759.
The Nerazzurri lost 1-0 to the Turkish side in the first game of the 2011/12 UEFA Champions League at the San Siro on September 14, 2011. Gasperini joined as the manager of the former Italian Champions before the start of the current
season but things have not started as planned.
Inter lost their opening league game of the season 4-3 to Palermo over the weekend and the critics have started blaming the former Genoa manager for the defeats. Gasperini’s 3-4-3 formation had taken a lot of stick from the fans
so he opted to go with 4-3-3 for this game.
Moratti has urged the fans to remain patient and not to blame the manager for the defeat. The chief added that the players were not up to their usual best.
"Gasperini is not up for discussion. Definitely not, because this evening the team was well set out on the pitch. They just couldn't get the right rhythm going, they held back a little and maybe lacked a bit of impetus, but I certainly
can't blame the Coach for that."
The 67-year-old is disappointed with the defeat but also wants to take out positives from the game. The Patron hailed the defenders for putting up a solid defensive display and believes that the goal which they conceded was purely
due to bad luck.
"Of course I'm disappointed at losing at home against these opponents, but, at the same time, I can't say anything because I think the defence did well. It was quite a slow game. We were trying to be cautious because the defeat
on Sunday probably shocked us a little."
Moratti is still ruing the wastefulness of his strikers and believes things could have been totally different had they taken their chances.
