More Democracy Shown on American Idol than in the Presidential Election?

Question

Does anyone have statistics on voter turnout regarding American Idol vs. the Presidential Primaries/ Election?

I was just wondering how close they were.

Not sure what the exact numbers are but two things are almost certain.

1 underage non registered voters voted on the American Idol    

and

2. more people voted more than one time on American Idol than normally happens in the Presidential Election

That would be a good way to elect a President..by texting

I know of people that voted 50+ times in American Idol. It's improper to compare the two. It's also less involved to vote in American Idol. I'm sure that the registration process turns people away from Government elections, simply because it takes time to go and get it processed.

If you're talking about voter apathy, you have a point.  Maybe a higher percentage of a certain group (maybe 18-24) care more about american idol than the pres. election.  They feel disenfranchised, probably.

12 year old girls don't get to vote in the Presidential Election.

Last election there were nearly 120 million votes cast.  That's about three times the votes cast for Idol.
