More Help with Sims 2!?

Question

Should be easy, but I'm stuck, how do I place an object into a sim's inventory? I can't pick the object up but when it's in the inventory it's supposed to have a function. Won't hesitate to give best answer.

As he siad, there is a hand tool to drag the item into inventory...but not in buy mode.  Open your inventory backpack on the same tab as your career and aspiration rewards.  Then click on item and out in inventory box...

Now you say you can't pick it up?  First check EVERY sim on the lot and make sure none are queued to use the item.  If they are, cancel the action...could be tricky if it is a noncontrollable visitor on your lot that is using it.   Then make sure it is an item that can be placed in your inventory...some items, like dirty dishes, trash etc. cannot.  If you still can't pick it up, then try using the "moveobjects on" cheat.

Another way to pick up something is to open the backpack, click on the object and hit the 'i' key.

If I remember correctly you have to go into buy mode, pick the hand tool, then drag it into your sim's Inventory. Or it could be that when you select your sim's inventory and then there will be a hand tool that you use to drag stuff into their inventory... I can't remember clearly, but I'm sure it's one of those two.
