  1. If money is not an issue, I would vote for the dorm. First of all, part of growing up is becoming self sufficient, getting yourself up in the AM, budgeting your time, doing your own laundry, managing your own bank account, etc. Secondly, half of a college education is not in the classroom. It comes from broadening your outlook, meeting new friends, meeting people of different backgrounds, different countries, different races, etc, becoming actual friends with members of the opposite s*x, instead of bf/gf relationships. You can't get into those long into the night discussions if you live at home. Being only an hour away can be handy. If Aunt Mary comes to visit, you can easily get home to see her without making it a weekend project. You can leave your winter clothes at home till you need them. Living one hour away in a dorm is the best of both worlds. Good luck in school.
