Question:

More company for a danio

we have been having trouble with dying fish (thanks for your answers to our previous question)

new question:

we have 5 tetras ( 2 cardinal 3 neons) and 1 danio left in a 30l tank

the tank does not seem to have settled yet as fish have died since we put them in last week.

do we need to add more danios to keep the remaining one company or should we just let it be for a while?

  1. I'd leave it for a few weeks, let the tank settle befor you introduce more fish. The dainio should b ok on its own.

  2. I agree, don't add any more fish and keep checking your ammonia/nitrite/nitrate levels until they are 0/0/10-20ppm.  Your Danio should be fine for now unless other fish are picking on it (especially watch if you have a long finned Danio).  When all your levels are safe, just add 2-3 fish at a time.

  3. white clouds work well with danios - however I agree with the previous answerers who mentioned about letting the tank settle down first!

In the beginning when you start to keep fish you do lose quite a few unfortunately however once you get the 'knack' you do have years of happy fish-keeping ahead!

    Have fun with them!

  4. I would leave it for a while until you are absolutely sure its settled, as adding more would make levels spike and unbalance it all all over again, which would take a while to settle again...so on so fourth :D

The Danio will be fine on its own for now, its got tetras so its not compleley alone :)
