Gamers eager to get their hands on the upcoming Diablo 3 may have to wait a while longer as developer Blizzard still have a few major changes to implement
Blizzard’s Diablo series has had a lengthy spell in the sidelines of obscurity but when Diablo 3 was announced, the world of PC and PlayStation 3 gaming rejoiced. However, it seems that the game is set to spend a little bit longer on the sideline as developers look to perfect the long overdue third instalment of the series.
Blizzard have been busy with Diablo 3 and there can be no doubt about that for anyone who has played the rather impressive beta in recent weeks. However, despite its seemingly high levels of polish, the beta is far from the finished products as the Jay Wilson, Diablo 3’s game director, explains that the game is, “not quite there yet”.
Though to be fair on him his next sentence oozed good sense, something that every gamer who has played a broken, glitchy game can related to, “No one will remember if the game is late, only if it’s great.”
Wilson elaborated on the direction they were taking the game’s development and explained that the beta version would be a far cry from the final retail ready game. “We’re changing some of the systems we’ve gotten the most feedback on both internally and from the beta test, including crafting, items, core attributes, and inventory.”
“In addition to finishing and polishing the content of the game we’re continuing to iterate on some of the core game systems.”
It seems Blizzard are h**l bent on ensuring that their game does not have the same issues as the likes of Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
Wilson also explained that they are switching around a number of attributes in the game in order to make “the stats more intuitive and fixes some of the itemization we (Blizzard) were running into.”
All in all it seems that there is still a long way to go before fans and gamers will be able to get their hands on the return of one of the gaming world’s most memorable series.
