More difference between 1998-2003, or 2003-2008?

What do you think, in general, is there more difference in the world between 1998-2003, or 2003 to now? I think 2003-now, but a friend thinks1998-2003.

I have to agree with your friend.  The reason is simply the changes that happened in the world as a result of 9/11.  The whole mindset of the world changed on that day.  It had an effect on every person who travels internationally, and an effect on almost every country.



Yes, there have been many changes since 2003 as the world continues to find its equillibrium from that day.  But the major changes in the mindset of the world occured in the immediate aftermath of that day.

Just look at travel in the airports.  I used to meet relatives coming into town as they came off the airplane.  But now that is a restricted area.  And flying out is a trial.  Shoes must be removed, packages checked thoroughly, all metal removed.  You used to have to get to the airport an hour before departure for domestic flights, now it is two or more.

Now, recent gas price increases and the wars have made major changes as well.  But I believe that even with the changes from 2003 - 2008, and there have been many, the changes that were caused by 9/11 were huge and seemingly permanent.
