  1. Use a mixture of both food but you must use Guineapig food as they don't produce vitamin c. Also putting rabbits and guineapigs together can be dangerous if they are both the same s*x. Generally a female rabbit and male guinea works better because a male rabbit will try to mate a female guineapig wich can injure them and distress them.

  2. My son and daughter both have a rabbit living with a guinea pig.  We have never had any problems - they seem to enjoy the company (the rabbits used to be on their own,  each in their own hutch,  then we bought a guinea pig to go in each one) You must feed guinea pig food to both of them (rabbits are absolutely fine eating guinea pig food but guinea pigs cant survive on rabbit food) Good luck x

  3. It isn't a good idea to keep rabbits and guinea pigs together. There is no way to make sure that they won't eat each other's food, and they both have different diets. Rabbits, even small ones, can also injure guinea pigs by kicking them accidentally. Your pets will be much happier in separate cages and with a friend of their own species. :)

  4. Rabbits and guinea pigs should not be housed together or fed together there are many reasons for this:

    1. rabbits can kick out and severely injure a guinea pig, i have seen this happen

    2. Rabbit foods can contain coccidiostates to prevent coccidiosis. This cocidiostate is dangerous to guinea pigs.

3.guinea pig foods are higher in protein and contain vitamin C for the guinea pig. Rabbits can therefore obtain an overdose of vitamin C which is the least of the worries, the main worry is the rabbit  can get overweight on Guinea pig  food.

4.rabbits can carry illnesses, which if passed on to the guinea pig could make the guinea pig severely ill or kill it

5.rabbits eat at a faster rate than guinea pigs, therefore leaving the guinea pig little food to eat(especially fresh) at meal times.

6.rabbits are lagomorphs and guinea pigs are rodents. Guinea pigs and rabbits need their own kind for company. rabbits will respond to a guinea pigs squeal but communication is limited.

  5. Feed guinea pig food to both of them. Rabbits can make their own vitamin C, guinea pigs can't. However, the extra vit c in the G pig food won't hurt the rabbits.

You shouldn't put rabbits in with guinea pigs though, it's too dangerous - a kick from an over-excited or annoyed rabbit will easily kill a guinea pig

  6. Eating the wrong food?

My Aunt keeps a rabbit and ginnie pig together and they eat exactly the same seed mixture. Both animals will tend to graze alot too (though some rabbits are more inclined to dig).

  7. I have seen food that is desinged for both rabbits and guinea pigs. But as they both have a diffrent diet it is mostlikley not as good as giving them propper feeds.

As said above guinea pigs cant make there own vitamin C, also some rabbit foods contain anti-coccidiostats which is toxic to guinea pigs.

  8. The rabbit can eat guinea pig food. Guinea pigs cant eat rabbit food as there is not enough vitamin C in it. Just give them both Guinea pig food and lots of veggies.
