More going for Mister Hyde than most in Direct 365 Handicap Chase at Market Rasen
Thursday’s Direct 365 Handicap Chase at Market Rasen is unlikely to prove a competitive affair, because there are doubts over most of the participants. One contender having plenty in favour is Mister Hyde, who looks capable off his current mark.
With new headgear, the Jonjo O'Neill-trained is all set to continue his good work that he showed last twice. Ahead of going on vacations, the bay gelding registered a fantastic triumph at Ffos Las in May.
In the hands of A.P. McCoy, he hardly faced any difficultly in cruising to an easy 2¼-triumph in the AJ Maxi Maps Handicap Hurdle. He justified the highest odds of 5 to 2, and pressed the leader right at the start.
Despite the fact that the Bensaranat Club & W McLuskey-owned was not fluent, he managed to take lead at the seventh fence. He kept stretching his advantage, and eventually seized the top rank with ease. The 7-year-old returned in equally good momentum last
time, when finishing third behind Rebel Swing at Carlisle.
In the Lloyd Ltd Handicap Chase, he led 12th to 4 out, but could not retain his advantage all the way through. Staying on one pace in the final stages hurt his cause badly, as he was 5½ lengths behind the winner. It was a decent act though, and
must have given him good rhythm.
Mister Hyde, who has recorded four victories so far, is likely to improve and beat the opposition today. Only four other runners have entered the meeting. On Market Rasen’s soft two miles, six furlongs and 110 yards, the participants will be in pursuit of
a handsome prize of £3,899. The action will be begun at 14:10 GMT.
Midnight Sail has won as a novice, but keeps coming up short in the handicap company. Dawn Commander has not yet made an impact over fences despite being a promising hurdler.
O Crotaigh knows this track very well, but the recent form is really bad. The Alan Brown-trained has not shown good form so far this season. Arbor Supreme has completely lost his way, and does not look to be in a good position to do something special.
