More horsepower for my 84 pickup?

I have an 84 Toyota pickup and im looking to get some more horsepower for off roading and just the daily drive and im wondering what things i can do/add to it to achieve that. Any suggestions?

first, it's probably not a good idea.

your transmission will be matched to the power expected from the engine.

increasing that power significantly is likely to cause the transmission to fail.

if you put a compressor on it, you'll increase the power.  however, just like the transmission, your engine wasn't designed for that load.

or you could get a bigger engine.

at '84, maybe it'd be better to just pick up something bigger.
