Why the constant scare mongering? Our poor kids are not going to have a life soon the way these pencil pushing meddlers interfere all the time.

Also they will all be 33 when they are obese where do they get their figures from? You could argue that if they have poor co-ordination that half their food wont hit there mouth because they will miss with their spoon! Isn't it time they left our kids alone to grow up without worries like this?

Your thoughts please.

  1. Of course it is an issue and the faster we recognise anything that may be an insight into the future of what could potentially be the cause of serious heath issues, the better.

The reality is, the matter can not be left alone because there has been a significant increase in the amount of obese children (and adults) in recent years. It's obvious something went wrong! The only solution is to find the source of the problem and indicators in order to prevent any further 'damage' which is what it boils down to.

  2. Children under 5 should be banned from watching television.

Sedentary activity should be very limited.

training a body at a young age with physical activity increases hand eye coordination, strength and metabolism.

  3. I find it is  cheaper to feed my  kids a Happy Meal every day.

I cant understand why they are mini sumos now.......

  4. its all rubbish many teenagers and kids are clumsy as there bodies are growing too quick for them to keep up and trip  over a lot , nervous kids are also clumsy

who got paid to research and write this tripe

  5. Because the NHS is hemorrhaging money looking after obese people and and all their related health problems. If they only live til their 50 something though, at least the government won't have to pay their pension though eh.

  6. The government, or the press, must make this kind of stuff up every now and again. It's all nonsense.

  7. HA ha my husband and daughter are the clumsiest individuals in the entire world and neither are obese! What a load of harmful tosh.

We got sent a letter last day of term on the schools new lunchbox 'policy' They say they are no longer allowed to bring in things like crisps and chocolate. They will 'check' lunchboxes and have told us exactly what they want in them.

I am waiting for the return to school to tell them what I think.  Anyhow show me a 7 yo lad who can write half decently..there aren't any! At least not in my sons class.

I agree let kids be kids ..must they always be monitored and analysed to within an inch of their lives?

  8. no. it really depends on what you feed them.

  9. I agree with Kat it is very easy to feed children a healthy diet, all this nonsense about it being more expensive is ridiculous, there are too many parents buying high fat ready meals with little or no nutrition just because they are too lazy to get of their own fat**** and cook a proper meal. You are what you eat. These kids and their fat parents are heading for a life time of health problems, it needs to be sorted.

And I do agree it is not for the children to worry about, their parents are 100% to blame the fault lies with them.

  10. they eat to much fast food.

  11. I think it's ridiculous. The answer to obesity lies in the very simple, healthier food, more exercise solution. Not hard now is it? Healthy food is just as affordable as junk food, there is no excuse for parent's not feeding their children properly.

  12. i think u should feed kids healthy foods only from years 3-7

also try to make them exercise atleast 1 hour a day

by age 8 they should be healthy

8-12 let them have little junk food

13+ let them eat what they want

also feed them good food and make them exercise

  13. Obesity comes mostly from lack of exercise and poor eating habits. You don't need any study to tell you that.

Some people are more genetically prone to becoming obese but, with the correct care they can control that. I think trying to link crazy things such as clumsiness to obesity is crazy.

Everyone always tries to find an alternative excuse as to why they are obese. I used to be one of those people until I wised up and admitted that my diet was at fault. You always think your diet isn't so bad until you realize how much processed food you eat which is packed with sugar, sodium, and other non pleasant things.

Kids in today's world are constantly being fed a diet of food which is not designed for the human body to consume. Mcdonald's, TV dinners, snack packs, white bread, chips, etc. This is NOT food!

I grew up in America and I had tons (pardon the pun) of obese friends (including myself). The lunches that schools serve are FAR from nutritious, even though they claim that they are. I remember eating pizza, processed fish sticks, some crud that they called macaroni and cheese, etc. It's NOT healthy.

I moved to Europe when I became an adult. The school that my children go to have guidelines on what you can and can not bring for lunch. No white bread, no chips, cookies, cupcakes, puddings, chocolate, etc. An ideal lunch goes something like this: A slice of whole wheat bread with meat on it and a fruit or vegetable.

Our obesity rate is 9.1% out of 100%. I think that says enough.

  14. I dunno, it's not like kids read these articles. but parents do need a kick up the backside. If they just watch thier kids' eating habits for a few of the early years, that kid will have a much easier life, as they will usually stay lean to an extent. Easier up the stairs, easier in social and dating situations..

  15. absolute c**p, i have excellent hand - eye co-ordination but from the size of my hips you'd be forgiven for thinking i had 2 left feet/hands and an eye patch  lololol xx

  16. Too much fretting about fatties in this country. If they want to kill themselves with food let them do it. Oh, and by the way fatties, leave us thin people alone. We don't want any more comments about how our perfectly normal bodies are too thin !!!
