When I fly I always sit in the emergency exit row for comfort reasons, (I'm 6' 2") and when the flight attendent tells me I must be willing to assist the other passengers in case of emergency I readily agree. Now the Airlines want to charge me extra for the priviledge. I say fine in case of emergency the best I can offer is " follow me". What are your thoughts?

  1. That's aggravating! They should be giving you a discount since you are willing to assist in an emergency! And the dumbest part is... what if when they asked you changed your mind and wanted to move... would they reimburse you the difference since you are no longer sitting in that "roomier" seat????

  2. I think airlines are going to try and get money however they can.  I don't believe that southwest charges for the exit row.  They are the most Economic company, especially during this time.  They are advertising no hidden fees.

While they don't have assigned seating, I almost always get an area that I want.  Just make sure you are logged on to their website 24 hours before your flight time, so that you can be one of the first to check-in to the flight.  I usually land around 20th to get onto the plane, which really is great.  Most people don't take the exit row because they don't want to be over the wing anyway.

I think it's crappy to charge extra for the seat, and then tell you that you have to do something for them.
