Imagine a world in which most of the states, rather than just a few, had nuclear weapons and long-range missiles. Would it be more peaceful or war-prone? Why? Relate your answer to realist/neorealist and idealist approaches to international affairs.

  1. Problem with that logic is assuming that all countries are dealing with the same logic that those who have nuclear weapons reside too.  I don't doubt that Libya probably wasn't dumb enough, nor is a number of other countries, but if you have someone in charge of Iran who claims to see profits and martyers as guidance, and is also predicting the end of Israel (who by the way, has lots of it's own nukes), do we really want to risk that?  If a country thinks it's own population is going to achieve heaven based on killing other people (which is why we have suicide bombers), is there really any deterence at all?

  2. USA, Israel, China, India, Pakistan, Iran, North Korea, Russia, etc

  3. MAD- Mutually Assured Destruction

I think everyone would stay in line based on this fact.  It kept us all alive during the Cold War.
