Question

"Higher Power"

You give me no control,

Over what you do,

My life is just a chess game,

Being played by you.

You move all the pieces,

You tell me where to go,

The things I thought I knew,

Now I no longer know.

You show me all the sides,

All the squares around me,

You show me what I saw,

And everything I can't see

Just when I think I'm winning,

You manage to take me back,

You start the whole game over,

And send me down another path,

I wish that I could see the reasons,

For why you do what you do,

I wish I knew the answer,

But I'll never really know,

I guess that's up to you,

How much you decide to show,

My life is in your hands,

And I beg to someone,

That I can't even see,

I beg for them,

I beg for it,

And God, I beg for me.

"To My Mother"

Thousands of miles from where it all began,

Headed for a city she might never know,

Lost little girl,

Trapped in the snow,

Curly brown hair,

Clear as day blue eyes,

Contagious laughter,

That never dies,

Stuck in the middle,

Lost somewhere in between,

A little girl's reflection ,

Grew up to be seen,

Alone in this town,

Far from the place she called her own,

A lost little girl,

Finally found her way home,

She's never been to that city,

Not even to glance,

Life just happened,

By a circumstance.

"Standing By You"

When the sky closes in,

And everything seems dark,

Look for my hand,

And I'll show you the light,

Faith seems scarce,

Hope is blind,

But it's all there

For you to find,

Days get better as time goes on,

And it's up to you

To keep yourself strong..

You can't erase your mistakes,

We all have our past,

Life goes on and sometimes so fast,

But time stands still,

As it waits for you,

And God knows,

There's so much left for you to do

Everyday that passes

Has a treasure to hold

And if you can find it

If you can take this moment

To look within yourself

To heal all of your scars

You will be a better man,

and when the sky closes in,

and everything seems dark,

Just remember to look for my hand.

"Standing By You" really touched my heart!  Thanks for sharing!  You have talent!

The third poem" Standing by You", I talked about in a previous question.

It feels better entitle a poem, for it is like a child, without a name loses a big chunk of its identity.

I like " Higher Power". U dealt w/ it in a relaxed lovely tone, which promoted a clear picture of the title. and made the reader consolidate w/ U involuntarily. It was wise of U no to revert to the (feminists) loud (scratching) voice.Moreover, U nicely showed faith & believing which is usually kept hidden.

" To My Mother" was  a more complex topic. I guess U still have a lot more to give to this picture, but somehow, U (processed it) in a haste, or more accurately in hesitation.

I still see that if U (slice) it into parts, compact in meaning, (stanzas), Ur poem 'd be easily pictured & highly perceived.

Boy..Girl .. U R talented !
