More spinners’ cuts come ahead of Australia’s tour to Sri Lanka: Cricket News Update
Based on recent reports, more news came from the outback after Australian coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Timothy-John-Nielsen-c94043 went on reshuffling the national squad prior to the team’s Test series in Sri Lanka, scheduled to take off next month.
Following the retirement of Australian legend http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SPD-Smith-c2555, from the Australian Test squad, brought the toll of axed players to a disappointing 12. However, for the matter, no apology came from Nielsen.
The extensive overhauls are all intended towards Australia’s upcoming tour to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746’. The tour will kick off with 2 Twenty20 matches on August 6 and 8, followed by 5 One Day International (ODI) fixtures
from August 10 to 22 with the much anticipated Test series, scheduled to take off on August 31 at Galle International Stadium featuring 3 Test fixtures, spanning till September 20th.
For the past few months now, Cricket Australia (CA) has been making headlines, but according to the country’s cricket officials, the team has been undergoing extensive overhaul all intended towards desperate measures for making a revival for the Australians
as a result of their disappointing down sliding performance during the past few seasons.
As for the consistent reshuffling of spinners on the test squad, and especially after the much critical exclusion of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Smith-c90598, Nielsen stated that the selectors are looking for the right person who can lead the team forward.
“We are obviously looking for the spinner who can take us forward in all three forms of the game. To be honest no-one has taken their opportunity and made it their own yet. And that is why we see some fluctuations in who is selected. Because whether it be
through injury or performance we haven't seen one spinner really take the job on,” said Nielsen.
However, of all, the much hyped word around the Australian cricketing fraternity is of the inclusion of five uncapped players, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nathan-Michael-Lyon-c78822 being the highlight.
Off-break spinner, Lyon’s selection on the squad came with much surprise due to the spinner’s limited cricketing profile, restricted to minor four first-class matches. However, according to the much criticised chief selector, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-Mark-Jefferson-Hilditch-c44498, the inclusion
came with an intention to risk it out on new and young talent, all for the betterment and revival of Australian Cricket.
