Question:

More than one social secuirty number?

Why would someone have more than one? Any legitimate reason?

  1. Every person in the US is issued one social security number upon birth. If for some reason a person has to change their identity, they receive another social security number and their original is destroyed, so no, no one can have two social security numbers-- unless they work for the FBI or some undercover operation but that's not what you were asking. :-)


  2. There has been some cases were someones social security number was accidently entered in incorrectly.  Say if you pull up a background using the ss# you may have more than one name come up but only one of the names is the owner and the others were just accidently entered incorrectly

  3. It is illegal to have more than one social security number. There would be no legitimate reason.
