More torque for my 87 firebird?

I have a v8 in my firebird and can't burn out unless my foot is on the brake. what can i do to get more torque?

  1. You need to know what rear end ratio is in your car. There were several different options. Changing the gears will let the car launch a little harder.

    Build more power into the car. Drop in a mild or wild small block and burn the hides right off of it.


  2. more than likely you got a 323 rear end .  go to junkyard and find a 373.  

  3. A few things. get a cheaper tire with less traction, install a line-lock (this will keep application pressure on the front brakes only while it releases the rears).  It is commonly found on the handle of a Hurst shifter.
