More troublesome "Yugioh" questions?

Okay, so from out of my 14 friends who I play yugioh over the weekend I'm like 3rd out of the 14 bunch that knows their knowledge.

This last weekend I played againts a friend's Gladiator Beast and another's Lightsworn deck.

So I start things off by announcing my upgrades to my dark deck, then my Gladiator friend ask me to a duel. Says that he'll kick my *** and sh*t. I start to duel and start off bad, drawing nothing but spells and traps(except for the lucky Allure I drew). We roll die and hey I go first. I set my traps in and 1 magic first and activate allure. I draw Cyber Valley and Armageddon Knight. So I remove Armageddon and set Cyber. He goes and summons some gladiator beast, attacks and I flip my Cyber Valley and call his first effect, which removes him from play, I draw a card and end the battle phase. Technically since the number of monsters on my side of the field changed it creates a replay for him and since my Cyber Valley just ended the battle phase means that he...

  1. You are right. Cyber Valley's effect negated the Gladiator's attack and ended the battle phase.

Negate Attack activates when your opponent declares an attack, so you negate it before the Gladiator attacks. The Gladiator's effect can not activate because it did not attack, you negated it before it had a chance.

Yay! You were right, they were wrong.

Realm of Light counts for every card, even the ones discarded

by the effects, which I think is crazy.

And as for shuffling your hand, it's  legal. What's wrong with playing around with the cards in your hand?

  2. You are correct by all means. If your card effect has anything to do with canceling the attack or going straight towards another Phase of a turn then that is what happens. That is when you call a Replay (meaning you go back towards the turn very slowly to make your opponent understand what happened). It is a very easily mistake now with the cards that are coming out now. Although the original Yugioh had more understandable cards now we have more cards to negate the attack of cards and activation. Yugioh will then turn into nothing but negating after a few years. Ok but back to the topic you are correct because the attack was cancelled therefore the effect is cancelled due to your card effect. It is very difficult but very easy to solve once you take it very slow. So explain this whole thing to your friend (hopely he is not very stubborn and try to shorten this all up) and I wish you luck.

Shuffling your hand around is not illegal. It is perfectly fine. They are trying to get you at a disadvantage. Use every tournament rule you know to your advantage. It is best to be safe than sorry. Good luck.

Man they won't just give up lol. Well you are "technically" right. If it is part of his effect to be able to do that once selected then that means that is the thing you ought to do. I would just bring him the card and tell him to read it

  3. 1. If Cyber Valley is attacked face-down, it's 1st effect will not activate because the time of attack declaration (selecting Cyber Valley as a target) has already passed.

    2. You need to read "Realm of Light" closer. It will only gain 1 counter, regardless of how many cards are sent. I believe if multiple lightsworn monsters activate simulaneously, it will gain multiple counters, similar to Colloseum for the Gladiator Beasts.

    3. Shuffling your hand is perfectly legal.

  4. Ok, with the cyber valley question you're wrong. See cyber Valleys first effect is a trigger effect, so when you set it face down, it was selected as an attack target while face down, its effect could not have activated. You shouldn't have been able to remove it from play and draw. It needs to be face up for that effect. As for the other question, you can move the cards around as much as you like in your hand, there's no problem with that.

  5. so whats the question all you've done is give us a report on a duel

  6. what exactly is the question? yes they get a replay because you are moving a monster from the field, taking his target away, but it doesnt matter because cyber valley's effect ends his battle phrase anyways, so he cant use the replay it just ends.

oh you wanna know about the glad beast effect. i believe they dont get their special summon effect, because cyber valley's effect said when he is targeted, he can be removed. meaning before the actual battle takes place it is removed, the glad beast loses his target. so no battle takes place and the battle phrase gets ended. but this is my interpretation of the effect.
