Moretta Blanche heading for success in the Capital FM Stakes (Handicap) at Goodwood

The Class 4 Capital FM Stakes (Handicap) will be hosted by Goodwood over seven furlongs on Friday, 15th June. Contesting for the £5,175 prize money is a line-up of eight four-year and older runners. Not all the candidates have raced there while
some will be adding further to the experience at the race course.
The most celebrated entry for the race is Moretta Blanche, Dansili’s five-year-old brown mare out of mare, Cotton House.
She shot off her career with the Betfred The Bonus King Handicap (Division I) at Ascot over six furlongs. She had to yank away the win from the reeling in runner up, Slip Sliding Away, who was at a mere distance of a head.
Moretta Blanche was paired up with Jim Crowley for the race and settling third behind her was Rothesay Chancer. The 9/4 favourite of the race, Mon Ami Jolie, finished eighth on the track of twelve.
Her penetration into the new season could not have been more impressive. She then raced in the British Stallion Studs Supporting British Racing E B F Fillies’ Stakes (Handicap) on 8th June at Goodwood over six furlongs.
The race was won by Hallelujah who was paired up with Hayley Turner and the two led the runner up of the race, Moretta Blanche, by a neck’s difference.
The 3/1 favourite that day, Free Verse, managed to fill up the third position behind the winner.
She did go down a position but even then maintained a certain bench mark, ending second and that too just by a neck’s margin is pretty decent. Second straight chance at the race course after a very recent experience there, has enhanced her chances of making
a pleasant impact today.
The five-year-old will need to look out for Corporal Maddox who scored third in the Willis Lease Finance Corporation Handicap on 25th May at Goodwood over seven furlongs. The race was won by Shifting Star who led the runner up, Piscean, by a mere
neck’s difference.
He has been active four times during the new season and out of that his highest accomplishment has been the second score in his most recent outing.
