The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 midfielder experienced quite a turbulent start to his first campaign with the Rhone giants and has now chosen to settle his accounts
In the columns of L’Equipe, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 international took stock of his first year at the Velodrome and referred it as a complicated one and confessed his desires for the national team.
In one year at Marseille, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Morgan-Amalfitano-c26799 has seen all the highs and lows of an average footballer’s career. The 27-year-old saw his side play perhaps the worst football they have ever played in over 50 years and was then on the verge of leaving Canebiere.
Now, after scoring one goal in four games for Marseille this season, the former Lorient man is happy to talk about his experiences and is glad to have stayed at the club in the summer despite so many doubts regarding his future.
A few OM fans did criticise Amalfitano for wanting to jump ship after a season full of crisis. However, the player has defended his stance by saying that it is natural for a player to consider his future if things are not going the way they should.
“With everything that happened, I do not know a player who would not have questioned. But my desire was to continue here. Since my arrival, I have stayed in my place.”
In the final few weeks of last season, Amalfitano criticised a few of his teammates for not putting extra effort on the field. The player’s statements sparked controversy and it was thought that he would be leaving the club for pastures new.
However, despite all the downs of last season, Amalfitano did enough to earn his first cap for the French national team in a friendly against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904. And, the Marseille man did not disappoint during the outing.
“The first selection against Germany, it was sacred. It was the reward of all the years I had worked.”
Now, with Didier Deschamps the new manager of Les Bleus, Amalfitano feels that he will get a fair chance to showcase his skills for the team as the manager knows him well enough to know what he can do.
