Morgan Dickson earns Women’s 400m freestyle gold: Day three – USA Swimming Sectionals, Iowa City
Morgan J Dickson of Patriot Aquatic Club earned gold medal of the Women’s 400m freestyle on day three of the USA Swimming Sectionals at the University of Iowa Aquatic Center in Iowa City on Saturday, July 21.
The 17-year-old Dickson mothered her opponents in the mediocre distance freestyle event. With her unrelenting efforts, Dickson stayed in a two-stroke lead over her closest challenger and made her way to the wall for the title.
She continued her nerve-wrecking form throughout the event and sprinted her way towards the finishing blockade for the crown of the discipline with the timing of 4 minutes and 22.28 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Gabrielle L Stecker of Bettendorf Pleasant Valley Aquatics, who remained 0.33 seconds apart and stepped on the victory stand for silver medal by posting a time of 4 minutes and 22.61 seconds.
Stecker was chased by Monika J Stitski of Wisconsin Aquatics, who remained almost one and a half body length slower from her preceding swimmer and occupied third best spot of the race with an effort of 4 minutes and 23.25 seconds.
Fourth position of the discipline was secured by Ally L Loper of Wisconsin Aquatics, who stayed 1.44 seconds slower from the third position holder and posted a time of 4 minutes and 24.69 seconds.
Loper was chased by Sara K Brzozowski of Elmbrook Swim Club, who remained prominent for fifth fastest spot of the discipline by producing a time of 4 minutes and 25.51 seconds.
Brzozowski was chased by Campbell H Costley of New Trier Swim Club, who was exactly one second apart and ended sixth in the event with an effort of 4 minutes and 26.51 seconds.
Subsequently, Costley was chased by Meagan L Popp of St Charles Swim Club, who stayed half body length behind and clocked a time of 4 minutes and 27.03 seconds for seventh position.
Eighth position of the race was obtained by Loper’s team-member, Aja R Van Hout, who ended her race with the timing of 4 minutes and 29.54 seconds.
Furthermore, Dickson expressed happiness over her title claiming effort on third day of the event.
