Mormons, how do you deal with these verses?

How do you deal with the following verses? If your God has parents, then he is not the creator of all things, and if you are to become gods, he says you will be destroyed. Is it possible that you are wrong? Do you not want to find the truth, since God is truth?

Or are you happy just sitting where you are and not looking forward any further?

Isa 43:10 "You are My witnesses," says the LORD,

"And My servant whom I have chosen,

That you may know and believe Me,

And understand that I am He.

Before Me there was no God formed,

Nor shall there be after Me.

Isa 43:11 I, even I, am the LORD,

And besides Me there is no savior.

--------------------------------------...

Jer 10:11 Thus you shall say to them: "The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth shall perish from the earth and from under these heavens."

2Co 13:5 Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?--unless indeed you are disqualified.

  1. To us, there is of course no other God.  We worship God our Heavenly Father, through His Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ.  There may be gods out there (notice the small "g") but we do not know of them or worship them, so that verse goes right along with what we believe.

    Jer 10:11

Conveniently, you picked the verse and left out the rest of the chapter...

The Lord is speaking of worshipping idols and "gods"... so of course idols are not going to exist after this life, for there are no other gods that our God.  Once again, going right along with our gospel, we don't worship idols or other gods.

    2 Cor 13:5

Saints should test themselves as to righteousness—Be perfect, of one mind, and live in peace.

We are encouraged to find out gospel truths, not just trust our pastor.q

  2. I'm sorry but you are misinformed and quite frankly rather smug in your interpretations of those verses. You don't understand the difference in lower case g and upper case G as it pertains to Bible verses.

I'm not "disqualified" just because you said so.

  3. Read those before....yawn...you can make the arguements you use for Isa 43:10 to dismiss the trinity.....

  4. I believe those verses speak the truth, thank you.

In Isaiah, God is talking to the Israelites. Look at it, and He is telling that they will have no other gods before Him, just like the 10 commandments say.

Jeremiah, the same. We cannot hold dumb idols before God. There is only one God that we worship, and that is God. We do not worship gods.

To answer the 2nd Corinthians verse, yes. I know absolutely that I am in the right faith. I have had it shown to me many times in my life, and I will not deny it.

  5. I asked the same question a while back about Isaiah 43..It was reported and deleted. The chapter is CLEAR...1 GOD..over us all, In the past present and future...

Mormon history defiantly taught that you could become GODS. The theory has been watered down over time. That GOD came from a councel of GODS... Some Mormon still believe this. Some Mormon now a days say, OH its we can become "LIKE" God..that's from LDS leaders trying to look mainstream christian.

See this quote from the 60's??

"Now, I would like to say a word or two about that Mormon truism, namely: "As man is, God once was, and as God is, man may become." Note that it is not to the effect that man will become, but man may become, and I wish to say that few men will become what God is. And yet, all men may become what he is if they will pay the price."

  6. Isa 40 to 46 is a discussion of false Gods, and he is assuring the children of Israel that he is Jehovah, which the LDS worship, Jesus Christ.  The Israels were chosen to represent HIM and be witnesses of him, which they failed to do.  We aqre told to seek the nature and character of God so we are better able to understand who he is.

D&C 19:23 Learn of me, and listen to my words; walk in the meekness of my Spirit, and you shall have peace in me.

We worship Christ. A resurrected Christ.

    ---------------

I guess you are trying to say something because again you took a verse out of context about the Children of Isreal worship false Gods.

We worship Christ and his Father.

Learn not the way of the heathen" the prophets from Moses on had preached; but such idolatrous vain-glory as the decorated tree (or idol) here described always attracts worshippers. It was amazing to Jeremiah, as it is to us, that speechless and powerless idols can replace the living God in the hearts of human beings. The contrast between the true God who "is the living God, and an everlasting king" and the "gods that have not made the heavens and the earth" should have decided that contest in all the ages past, but even to the present it has not done so. Therefore, because of vanity and mockery, people lose their heritage (Jer. 10:1-18).

2 Cor 13:5. Examine yourselves] Do you keep the commandments? Are you sound in doctrine? Do you believe all that God has revealed? Are you receiving revelation, seeing visions, working miracles, enjoying the companionship of the Spirit? Does the gospel live in your life?

Hidden from the world, but revealed in the hearts of those who are enlightened by the Spirit, this doctrine becomes the measuring rod by which the saints determine whether they are faithful and true. "Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves," Paul directs. His standard for such self-judgment is: "Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?" (2 Cor. 13:5.)

    I answer Yes:

15 And I, John, bear record, and lo, the heavens were opened, and the Holy Ghost descended upon him in the form of a dove, and sat upon him, and there came a voice out of heaven saying: This is my beloved Son.

    D&C 93:16

    16 And I, John, bear record that he received a fulness of the glory of the Father;

    D&C 93:17

17 And he received all power, both in heaven and on earth, and the glory of the Father was with him, for he dwelt in him.

    D&C 93:18

18 And it shall come to pass, that if you are faithful you shall receive the fulness of the record of John.

    D&C 93:19

19 I give unto you these sayings that you may understand and know how to worship, and know what you worship, that you may come unto the Father in my name, and in due time receive of his fulness.

    D&C 93:20

20 For if you keep my commandments you shall receive of his fulness, and be glorified in me as I am in the Father; therefore, I say unto you, you shall receive grace for grace.

    D&C 93:21

    21 And now, verily I say unto you, I was in the beginning with the Father, and am the Firstborn;
