said that you SHOULD smoke, drink booze, and do drugs. My question is would you do it? I can see why you don't do those things now especially knowing what we do health wise, but put yourself in the reverse situation for a minuet.... what do you do?

  1. I'm sorry to say this, but what a RIDICULOUS question! Understanding the Scriptures is really about using common sense. This is like saying "what if God told you to kill someone". It just wouldn't happen!

  2. What if cows had wings, would they fly?

You must first understand that God wants GOOD things for us.  Those things would actually be contrary to good... see the point there?

It's like saying - well, what if God wanted you to cheat on your spouse, or if he wanted you to sell drugs.  Those things are contrary to God's laws... so why would He want us to do them?

"What if" questions, most of the time, are just silly... because they most likely will never happen, so it's just pointless to talk about them.

IF there was a commandment to DO those bad things, I would think seriously about it, ask God about it and decide from there.

  3. Well, considering the Old Testament says not to wear cotton-poly blends and most Mormons as well as other Christians just ignore that little bit, as well as the dietary laws and countless other little Biblical gems it's pretty clear the religious are well practiced in selectively choosing what tenants they need to follow.

  4. The Word of Wisdom would not advise us to do those things. The whole purpose of the Word of Wisdom is to advise us on how to stay healthy. Really, it is just common sense that you avoid drugs and alcohol. We are taught that our bodies are temples and that we should treat them with upmost respect.

If I saw the Word of Wisdom saying something like that, then I would know something was definately wrong being that everyone in this world knows that drugs and alcohol are bad for you.

Mormonism is not a cult. It is a church just like any others. We teach family values, we teach love, we teach about the Bible and the Book of Mormon. We teach and learn about God and the Savior Jesus Christ.

Maybe you should learn not be so bitter and hateful and crush people for their beliefs and try to convince others that other people's religions are brain washing cults.

If you reverse your attitude you just may learn not to hate and to respect people for who they are and to learn to see the lighter side of things.

  5. I would not do those things. I find out that people who do those things get in more trouble then people how do not do those things.
