Wayne Parnell was born on 30 July, 1989 at Port Elizabeth, Cape Province in South Africa. He is a left-arm medium fast bowler and left-hand batsman.

Parnell is a naturally gifted player and was in the lime-light even at the age of 12. He kept on performing since until he became part of the South African Under-19 and then in the National side. He has an athletic build and is an energetic fast bowler who
displays the art of fast bowling in every match he plays. Parnell has produced productive results in all three formats of the game and that is one of the reasons he was picked by the Pune Warriors.
He made his debut in T20 cricket against the mighty Australian team on 13
January, 2009 at Brisbane.
Parnell has played 30 matches and has taken 32 wickets at a healthy average of 21.50 runs per wicket with the best of 4 for 13 runs. He has scored 47 runs which do not reflect his batting capabilities, as he can bat well during crucial times.
