Morten Gamst Pedersen, the Blackburn Rovers winger, revealed he was certain the English Premier League side would do better in the upcoming fixtures if they managed to retain their form. The Rovers secured a win over Newcastle United in the Carling Cup last
night, giving them hope ahead of the weekend clash against newly promoted side Norwich City.
So far Blackburn Rovers have only managed a single win since the new Premier League season kicked off, which means they remain at the bottom of the Premier League season. With two draws and six defeats to their names, Steve Kean’s side are favourites to
get relegated at the end of the season. However, the 30-year-old http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Norway-c2974 international remained positive about his side’s chances of making a comeback.
Pedersen said in an interview:
“It's not what you want to hear, but we have to focus on what we did on the pitch.”
In their last Premier League fixture, Blackburn Rovers faced a narrow 2-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at Ewood Park. Despite not taking any points from the game, Pedersen revealed there were plenty of positives to take from the game. The Norwegian winger
congratulated his side on a superb performance, which had almost landed them a point from the game.
He revealed:
“We played well and showed great commitment. If we keep producing these performances, sooner rather than later the ball will drop for us.”
The squad’s commitment was undoubtedly strong and showed a big change from how they had started off the season. Pedersen revealed the supporters had seemed to notice the change and had appreciated the effort the team had put into trying to salvage a point.
Pedersen maintained his side had improved and would hopefully continue to do so in the future.
Pedersen continued:
“The supporters liked what they saw from us. We deserved at least a point as it was a fantastic effort.”
It remains unclear whether the Blackburn Rovers owners, Venky’s, stance is on manager Steve Kean. While they have promised him unconditional support, they could change their mind if the Rovers continue on with poor performances. Blackburn Rovers travel to
Norwich City this Saturday, in what seems like an easy fixture, and will attempt to secure their second win of the current Premier League season.
