Morten Gamst Pederson has revealed that he was certain Blackburn Rovers would return to winning ways and climb out of the bottom three after their win over Fulham on Saturday.
The 3-1 win over Fulham at Ewood Park made it their first win in over four months and just their second this season. They climbed out of the relegation zone with the win and according to Pederson, they intend to remain there in the second half of the season.
Even though their climb out of the bottom three could be short lived, the victory proved to be extremely encouraging for Steve Kean and the team. Having taken just seven points from their last four games, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 will be desperate to return to winning
ways.
In a match that could have gone either way, Pederson scored the opener for his side in the first half with a fantastic free kick. Despite the sending off of striker Ayegbeni Yakubu in the 23rd minute, the Rovers retained their belief and confidence
and went on to win the fixture at home.
Pederson said in an interview:
“Of course, it's a fantastic feeling after what has been such a tough time, and we haven't had much luck. We've showed it's possible after so many negative things going around all over the place.”
He revealed:
“It's a great win, one we deserved, which gives us a little bit of confidence, but now we have to build on it. After beating Manchester United recently we then let ourselves down against Stoke.”
Pederson revealed he felt it was an important win, especially since his side had been down to ten men for most of the match. He admitted they had been unlucky, but had made the most of the situation, not letting the disadvantage bring them down. He was certain
their belief had been important in helping to secure all three points.
Pederson continued:
“We were unlucky to get Yakubu sent off, but we didn't sit back, we kept our formation and kept two up front. We didn't want to defend, we wanted to attack, and it succeeded for us.”
