Denmark head coach, Morten Olsen, has confessed that his side is not the favourites to emerge victorious against Portugal in their upcoming Euro 2012 tie despite claiming a stunning 1-0 win over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753 in their opening fixture.
The Danish Dynamite not only failed to enjoy lion’s share of ball possession against an impressive Bert van Marwijk’s side, but they also created only a limited number of goal-scoring opportunities throughout the 90 minutes.
However, the Danes did manage to score the game’s only goal in the 24th minute through http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Krohn-Dehli-c25321 on their first real opportunity, and then defended impressively until the full time whistle to claim the surprising
win.
Olsen knows that A Seleccao will prove to be a different opposition, and his side will have to work extremely hard to bag all three points.
“We know Portugal have a lot of individual flair and players who can drive them forward and so we will have to be more on form than we were against the Netherlands. I know the pressure is on for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Portugal-c2984 - but it is on us also.
We are not the favourites. We would like to be, but you cannot be against such a team”, the veteran coach was quoted as saying to the media.
The Danish trainer went on to reveal that the win over the 2010 World Cup runners-up has boosted his side’s confidence. However, the 62-year-old tactician has also stressed that his side still need to improve some parts of their
game if they are to progress through to the next phase of the competition.
“We must correct a few things. I can't say exactly what - but there are always things to improve on”, Olsen added.
The former Ajax boss, however, has stressed that they will head into the upcoming game against the Navigators with the aim to emerge victorious.
“We are not playing for just the point - we always go out to win”, Olsen concluded.
