I am going away to southern Spain soon and I'm terribly afraid of mosquito's for some reason :(

Anyone got any advice on protecting myself from them?

Keeping them out of my apartment?

Discouraging them from coming near me?

Thank You!

  1. Mosquitoes are most active near dawn and dusk. Wearing long sleeves and pants offers some protection. Citronella candles do a pretty good job of keeping them away if it isn't windy. While Deet insect repellent is the longest lasting, there are now plant based insect repellents that are not greasy and have fairly pleasant odours. They only last about half as long and so need to be replied more often .

    Have a nice trip.

  2. Close all the windows of the apartment by about 4-4.30pm.

There are good mosquito repellents in the market. Apply them, especially on ur legs and arms.

Remember to use a mosquito net when sleeping.

There are mosquito mats in the market too. Light them up in the apartment by the evening.

Enjoy ur trip to Spain! Mosquitoes aren't that bad, u know! :-)

  3. Mosquitoes avoid areas that are very dry. Choose a place to live that is very dry.

Spain has lots of places that are too dry for them.

  4. DEET. 30-100% if you can find it. Its the only thing that always works.

On the down side, it smells terrible, has been known to induce seizures, and increase risk of testicular cancer.
