Question:

Mosquito protection for baby?

My 9 month old loves to take a walk before bath and bed, around 7:30 p.m. Of course mosquitoes love us both. I can't use "Off" due to his age. Any ideas for a safe way to keep those awful bugs from bothering him?

  1. Eucalyptus oil...I found it at my local grocery store. Just don't use too much! Mosquitos hate the smell :-)

  2. My DR says I could use the lowest form of deet mosquito spray I am just suppose to spray it on my hands and rub it on her skin....but I use long pants and shirts and put sock on her feet....

  3. I know that bounce sheets work, but I like to be 100% chemical free. I use eucalyptus oil mixed with water. I spray it on my sons clothes and on a receiving blanket , I don't put it on him cause it smells strong so i'm sure its an irritant. but my little guy never gets bit and as long as I have that on either do I!

    hope I could help!

  4. My doctor recommended Avon skin so soft or citronella spray.  CVS makes a citronella that spray that comes out like a lotion, spray on your hands and rub it around.  I don't care for the Avon because it is so greasy and makes him slippery, but the citronella spray works great, not the best smell in the world, but not bad either.  (I'm sure Walgreen's would make one as well.)  Good luck!

  5. Gentle Naturals makes a DEET-free insect repellent for babies.  As far as I know their line is carried by WalMart.

  6. You can use Avon Skin So Soft Spray.  You could also just dress him in light long sleeved clothing.  There are also some essential oils that ward off bugs, I am not sure which ones are the best but I do know you can mix them in a spray bottle with water.
